More About the Fabric used for our capsule collection
For this collection we are using a Cupro blend fabric that is made out of 53% Bemberg™ Cupro and 47% LENZING™ ECOVERO™ Viscose. These trademarks ensure that the fibers used have the highest sustainability standards in the industry.
Cupro, often called ‘vegan silk’ due to its silk like properties, is made from regenerated cellulose. The cellulose is made by recycling cotton linters, which, otherwise would end up as waste after cottonseed oil production. While, Viscose, which is often used as a substitute for cotton or silk, is derived from wood pulp.
Together they form a luxurious fabric with a soft, smooth and silky feel. It is made out of plant-based semi-synthetic fibre, meaning it is fully bio-degradable.
So, what are the benefits of Bemberg™ and LENZING™ ECOVERO™ Cupro?
Production
53% of it is made from waste.
→ The Curpo is made from a by-product of cottonseed oil production, materials that would otherwise be thrown away.
It is a vegan and cruelty-free substitute for silk.
→ No silkworms need to die for it.
Wear
It has the highest moisture control compared to cotton, nylon, or polyester.
→ It lets you stay cool in summer and warm in winter.
It is highly antistatic.
→ It doesn’t annoyingly stick to your body like polyester or silk often does.
Care
→ It can be washed in the washing-machine at 30 degrees celsius, unlike silk.
→It needs less detergent & water when cleaning.
(Please still read the care instructions for our garments, we also recommend you don't wash too often, it is a semi-synthetic fiber and may start pilling after many washes).
Disposal
It is a purely plant-based material.
→ It is biodegradable and fully decomposes in soil.
If burned it produces less Co2 & Carbon Monoxide, as well as, way less Nitric Oxide & Nitrogen Dioxide gasses. (Compared to Silk, Wool, Polyester or Polyamide)
→ Gasses that are toxic and responsible for air pollution, smog and acid rain.
We can’t wait for you to feel this silky-smooth texture on your skin!
